Albanian wine is the surprise nobody expects: native grapes, family wineries, honest prices. Paired with Krujë's castle and bazaar, it becomes the most civilised private day out from Tirana.
How the day works
Pick-up around 9:00 (wine days start gently). Morning in Krujë: castle, Skanderbeg museum and the bazaar. Lunch with the valley view. Then down into the foothills for a guided winery visit and tasting — typically 4–6 wines with local cheeses and olives, the winemaker often pouring personally. Home by early evening, with a bottle or two in the back seat.

The grapes you can only taste here
Albania grows varieties that exist nowhere else: Shesh i Bardhë and Shesh i Zi from the central hills, Kallmet from the north. The wineries we work with are small and family-run — this is tasting with the producer, not a showroom. If natural wine and native grapes are your thing, tell us and we choose the cellar accordingly.
When to go and how to book

Is the tasting included in the price?
The winery visit and standard tasting (4–6 wines with snacks) is included; premium flights and bottles you buy are extra.
I don't drink — can I still come?
Yes: the castle, bazaar and lunch views are the same, and the wineries serve excellent grape juice and local food. You pay less, since the tasting is skipped.
How does this compare to the Berat wine tour?
Berat (Cobo, Luani) has bigger, more polished wineries; Krujë's are smaller and more personal. Both are excellent — Berat if you want the UNESCO city too, Krujë for a shorter, closer day.
Can we buy wine to take home?
Yes — bottles from €8–15 at the cellar door, and they pack for travel. Your driver keeps them cool on the way back.
