How the day works
Pick-up around 8:00, then 1h45 south to Apollonia, the Greek colony founded in 588 BC: the grand colonnade, the odeon, the monastery cloister with its museum — in the morning you will have it almost to yourself. Then 50 minutes to Berat: lunch in the Mangalem quarter, the hilltop castle still lived-in after 2,400 years, the Onufri museum's glowing icons, and the postcard walk across the Gorica bridge. Home by early evening.

Why combine Berat with Apollonia
They are the same story told twice: Apollonia is where Albania's urban history begins, Berat is where it never ended. Seeing both in one day gives you the full arc — and logistically they sit on the same southern axis, so private routing wastes nothing. Group tours do Berat OR Apollonia; almost never both.
When to go and how to book
All year. Spring and autumn are ideal for the ruins (no shade at Apollonia in August — go early). One WhatsApp message with date and group size, and the day is confirmed within the hour.
Frequently asked questions
How much walking is there?
Moderate: Apollonia is a grassy, mostly flat site; Berat castle is uphill but we drive to the top gate. Total walking about 3–4 km spread over the day.
Is Apollonia worth it if I am not a history buff?
Yes — it is one of those rare ruins that are beautiful even without a guidebook: columns standing in olive groves, turtles in the cloister pond, and usually no crowds at all.
Can we add the Berat wine tasting?
Yes — the Cobo or Luani wineries are 15 minutes away. Tell us on WhatsApp and we build it in (tasting around €15–20, not included).
Is this tour good for children?
Better than most: ruins to run around in the morning, a castle with real cannons in the afternoon. The vehicle breaks the day into easy chunks.
