Private Krujë & Sari Salltik Tour — the Castle and the Holy Mountain

Krujë's castle below, then the winding climb to the cave-shrine of Sari Salltik at 1,176 m — the view over half of Albania and a side of local faith most tourists never see.

From €255 per groupHotel pick-up in Tirana

Everyone does Krujë castle; almost nobody goes up the mountain behind it. Sari Salltik is a Bektashi shrine inside a cave on the summit — half pilgrimage site, half panoramic balcony. Private, it's the best "short" version of Krujë there is.

How the day works

Pick-up around 8:30. Morning at Krujë: castle, Skanderbeg museum, bazaar. Then the mountain road — 25 hairpin minutes — to the Sari Salltik shrine at the top of Mount Krujë: the cave of the 13th-century dervish saint, pilgrims' candles, and a terrace view from the Adriatic to the inner mountains. Late lunch back down in Krujë, home by late afternoon.

Who the Bektashi are (and why it matters)

The Bektashi are a tolerant Sufi order whose world headquarters are in Tirana — a form of Islam so interwoven with Albanian identity that pilgrimages here mix Christian and Muslim families alike. Sari Salltik is one of their holiest sites in the country: you will likely share the cave with local pilgrims, not tour groups.

When to go and how to book

All year; the summit road closes only in snow or ice (rare, and we warn you the day before). Clear days give the huge view. Date and group size on WhatsApp — confirmed within the hour.

Frequently asked questions

Is the shrine visit appropriate for non-Muslims?

Yes — visitors of any background are welcome. Shoulders covered, shoes off inside the cave, and your guide handles the etiquette.

How steep is the mountain road?

Paved but twisty — 25 minutes of hairpins. If anyone in the group gets carsick, tell us and we pace it gently with stops.

Is there much walking?

Little: 10 minutes from the parking to the shrine on a stepped path, plus as much bazaar strolling as you like in Krujë.

Can we combine this with the wine tasting?

Yes — the wineries are on the way back toward Tirana. Same price as the Krujë & Wine tour; just ask on WhatsApp.

Ready to plan your Albania adventure?

One message is enough: tell us your dates, where you are staying and what you want to do. We reply in minutes with real options and indicative prices, confirmed before you book.
