Skopje is the city you have to see to believe: a 600-year-old bazaar on one side of the river, a forest of brand-new statues and triumphal arches on the other. Private, it is the easiest international day trip from Tirana.
How the day works
Pick-up around 8:00 (passports needed), then about 2 hours east across the Qafë Thanë border. Morning in Skopje: Macedonia Square with the warrior statue, the Stone Bridge, then into the Old Bazaar — mosques, caravanserais, copper shops and the best burek of the trip. The Mother Teresa memorial and the Kale fortress viewpoint. Lunch in the bazaar, home by early evening.

Why go to Skopje from Albania
Because it is close, curious and completely different: where Tirana is Mediterranean chaos, Skopje is Central-European theatre. For travellers collecting countries, it adds North Macedonia without a separate trip — and the drive over Lake Ohrid's northern shore is a sight in itself.
When to go and how to book
All year — the bazaar is covered and lively in any weather. Weekdays mean faster borders. Date and group size on WhatsApp — confirmed within the hour.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need visas or special documents?
EU, UK, US and most passports cross visa-free with just the passport. We handle the border routine — total crossing time is usually 15–30 minutes.
What currency do they use?
The Macedonian denar, but euros are widely accepted in the bazaar and restaurants. Cards work almost everywhere.
Is the bazaar good for shopping?
Excellent and cheaper than Tirana: filigree jewellery, copper, leather and spices. Haggling is expected and your guide helps.
Can we add Matka Canyon?
Possible on request — it adds about 2 hours (boat or kayak in the gorge). Tell us on WhatsApp and we quote the longer version.
