What the ride is
Transfer from Tirana (many departures include pick-up — confirm when booking) to the quad base in the hills toward Bovilla, then 20 minutes of briefing and practice laps until everyone is comfortable: these are automatic quads, and if you can ride a bicycle you can ride one. Then the convoy sets off behind the lead guide: farm tracks through olive groves, riverbeds (splashy in spring, dusty in summer), canyon rims with the lake glowing below, and photo stops at the angles no minibus can reach. The route runs 2.5–3 hours depending on the group's pace and the photo-stop count, which tends to be high — the canyon scenery above the emerald reservoir is relentless.

Who can ride and what to wear
Drivers generally need to be 18+ (16–17 with an adult on some quads — ask us); passengers from about 8–10 up, making this a rare adrenaline activity families can share. Wear clothes you do not love (the dust is a souvenir), closed shoes, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Bring nothing that cannot survive being bounced — phones in zipped pockets, ideally on a strap for the photo stops.

April to October, mornings and late afternoons — midday summer rides are hot and dusty, and we will say so. The classic combo is quad morning plus the Bovilla ridge hike the next day, or the cooking class in the evening to refuel. Book 3–7 days ahead in summer; spring and autumn weekends fill fastest. Weather cancellations (heavy rain turns riverbeds into rivers) are rescheduled free. Do I need a driving license or experience?
No license, no experience — the quads are automatic and the session starts with practice laps until everyone is comfortable. Drivers need to be 18+ (younger teens can ride as passengers, some as drivers with an adult — ask us).
Is it safe?
With the briefing, helmet and a lead guide pacing the convoy to the slowest rider, yes — this is a guided trail ride, not a race. You sign the standard ATV disclaimer; the operator carries the insurance. Listen at the briefing and it is pure fun.
How dirty do we actually get?
Summer: properly dusty — wear clothes you can shake out and expect a light coating of Albania. Spring: occasionally muddy in the riverbeds, which most people count as a bonus. Bandanas are provided.
Can two people share one quad?
Yes — driver plus passenger from €75–85 per quad, and you can swap at the halfway stop. Two sharing is the budget-friendly version and, honestly, the passenger gets the better views.
