Theth is the single most booked excursion from Tirana on every OTA — and the one where group tours hurt most: 14 hours, 40 people, fixed photo stops. Private, the same day becomes the trip everyone writes home about.
How the day works
Hotel pick-up around 6:30–7:00 (the Alps reward early starts). About 2.5 hours up through Shkodra and the new mountain road to Theth National Park. First the village: the 400-year-old Lock-in Tower and the stone church. Then the walk to the Blue Eye of Theth (Kapreja) — about 1 hour each way on an easy trail through the forest, to a spring of water so blue it looks edited. On the way back, Grunas Waterfall. Home by 20:00–21:00, legs tired, camera full.

What is included
- Hotel pick-up and drop-off in Tirana, private air-conditioned vehicle
- Driver-guide in English or Italian for the whole day

- Photo stops where you actually want them (the Qafa e Thores pass view is mandatory)
- All fuel, tolls and park access
Why private makes the difference here
The Theth road is spectacular and rough, and the day is long. In a group you move at the slowest person's pace and skip whatever doesn't fit the schedule. Private, you choose: longer at the Blue Eye, a proper lunch in a guesthouse with mountain views, an extra stop at the Nderlysaj natural baths if the legs allow. For families or anyone over 50, this flexibility is the whole point.
When to go and how to book
May to October — the road and trails are winter-closed. June and September are perfect; July–August start as early as possible. Tell us your date and group size on WhatsApp: we confirm vehicle, guide and exact price within the hour.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Blue Eye hike difficult?
No — it is about 1 hour each way on a mostly flat forest trail, with some stones and roots. Good trainers are enough. If anyone in the group prefers to skip it, they can wait at the village café with the driver.
Can we swim in the Blue Eye?
You can, and it is unforgettable — but the water is 5–8°C all year. Most people dip their feet, take the photo, and respect the brave ones who jump.
Is one day really enough for Theth?
For the highlights (village, tower, waterfall, Blue Eye) yes, with an early start. If you want the Valbona Pass hike or real trekking, look at our 2- and 3-day Alps tours instead.
What should we bring?
Trainers or light hiking shoes, a layer for the mountain (it is 10°C cooler than Tirana), water, and a swimsuit if you are feeling brave. Lunch is in a local guesthouse, around €10–15, not included.
